How does your Type Approved Kernel work?

Technical Director and CEO, Des Neill shares his thoughts below.

What does it mean to have a Type Approved Kernel?

“It means that the core component of our products has been rigorously tested and approved by the relevant authorities in the industry to ensure that it meets the highest standards for safety and reliability.”

So, how does your Type Approved Kernel work?

“It’s essentially the backbone of our software. It provides the basic functions and algorithms that our software needs to operate effectively. It includes features such as position fixing, route planning, route validating, and more. It’s the foundation that everything is built upon and because we built our own kernel rather than outsourcing the work, we can control the development and direction that we take our products in.”

How does it benefit your customers?

“It gives them the assurance that our software meets all the necessary standards and requirements for safe and reliable navigation. And it allows us to provide regular updates and improvements to our software, ensuring that it remains up-to-date and continues to meet these latest standards and requirements. But more specifically they can trust that Seall products have been expertly made and maintained. There are currently over 30,000 vessels using Seall’s type-approved kernel so we must be doing something right. “
